A book which develops an analysis of the dynamic behaviour of laminates, sandwiches and composite structures.



 

Dynamics of Composite Materials and Structures is a text book which develops the analysis of the dynamic behaviour of laminates, sandwiches and composite structures. It has been established for undergraduate and graduate levels.

 

First, the fundamental elements on the constituents and architecture of composite materials are considered. Next the dynamics of one degree of freedom systems is developed.

 

Free vibrations of beams and plates constituted of laminates or sandwiches are analyzed in the case of undamped materials. Next damping of composite materials is considered. and the bending vibrations are studied using viscous friction model and complex stiffness. Inserting viscoelastic layers is also analyzed.

 

Extended experimental investigations of composite vibrations and damping are reported. The investigations present the experimental analysis and the discussion of the experimental results.

 

The dynamic analysis of composite structures needs to use finite element method. The book gives the basic concepts.

 

A synthesis of the different concepts is reported in the last chapter.
